How to Create Fleece-Like Felt

1. Fill a sink or basin with warm water. Submerge felt completely under the water, you may
submerge more than one sheet at a time but only one COLOR at a time as some dye may be
released into the water - this is normal. Do not rub or agitate.
2. Drain the water & roll the sheets of felt up like a roll of paper towels. Using your hands,
press as much water out of felt as possible. Avoid wringing as this will distort the felt. Fold
an old, dark colored towel in half & lay it on the floor ( not the carpet ). Unroll the felt
sheets, place them on the towel, fold the towel over the felt and step on them to get as
much water out of the felt as possible.
3. Place in a standard tumble clothes dryer on regular setting until felt is nearly dry
(approximately 35 minutes). Do not over dry. Dry light colors separately from darker colors.
Colors may change slightly during drying process.
4. Lay flat to dry completely, smoothing fabric gently by hand. Large wrinkles may be
removed by using a light steam iron held just above the surface of the felt. Return felt to its
original form by pressing with a steam iron. Your felt sheets will thicken & will also shrink
about 1" or 2" in overall size.
